Homemade Pumpkin Spice Creamer Recipe

10.14.18

This past month, we bought ourselves a French press (check my post on my favorites) and haven’t looked back. Every day we make ourselves either an iced coffee or a hot latte. We also have been trying out many different coffee blends, syrups and creamers. Some creamers are amazing, whereas others taste too sugary or fake. Looking at the ingredient list, I am shocked by how many chemicals and other ingredients are in there. So, I thought there must be a way to make your own creamer at home. And to make it extra special, I decided to make a homemade pumpkin spice creamer.

I watched many YouTube videos and read a ton of blog posts about how to make coffee in a french press. There are even ways to make latte art using a french press at home! (This I’m still learning and trying to perfect). There is a whole other world out there all about making coffee at home. Although I’m not a coffee connoisseur, I do enjoy myself an iced coffee daily and a latte a couple of times a week. In terms of creamers, there are a ton of recipes out there. This recipe is a combination of what I learned as well as what I think should go into a homemade pumpkin spice creamer. I think it tastes pretty amazing, but if you try it, let me know what you think!

Ingredients

1 can sweetened condensed milk

1 1/2 cup milk of choice (we used almond milk)

2 tbsp pumpkin puree

2 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp cardamom

1 jar to hold the homemade pumpkin spice creamer

strainer

spoon to mix

Directions

  1. In a jar, add the entire can of the sweetened condensed milk.
  2. Next, add the milk. To make it less messy and less cleanup, pour the milk into the can of the condensed milk to measure and pour into the jar. You want a 1:1 ratio of sweetened condensed milk to milk.
  3. Stir to mix using the spoon, or you can use the shaking method.
  4. Now add in the pumpkin puree, cinnamon and cardamom.
  5. Stir or shake to mix.
  6. Use a strainer to strain out any lumps or clumps.

There you have it! Your homemade pumpkin spice creamer. You can keep this in the fridge for up to a week. Our lasted 5 days – we made 2 iced coffees with the creamer every day. To make your own iced coffee, add in cold brew (you can do this at home using a French press), ice and top it up with however much creamer you prefer. And now you have yourself a pumpkin spice iced coffee!

DIY Sprinkle Backdrop

10.08.18

One of my most popular blog posts has been the How to Set up a DIY Photo Booth, so I thought it would useful if I shared a fun idea for a backdrop to use for your next event! We created a beautiful DIY sprinkle backdrop for my sister’s wedding and it was so fun and easy to set up!

Okay, step number one is to set up the board. Fortunately, my dad likes to help us with our annoying projects, and he’s always so resourceful and creative. I took my dad to Home Depot to find something that would be stable enough to serve as the backdrop and we found some white sheets of wood that we got cut in half. My dad used some pieces of wood he already had at home to secure the two pieces using nails to the ground (see pictures below). If this is too difficult, just find a good place you can lay your pieces of wood against so that it is stable.

Because we purchased a white sheet of plywood, we didn’t even need to paint anything! The next step was to just get the family and tell them to be creative in putting the sprinkle decals all over the board. Just try not to put all the same color decals next to each other! We used only one of these confetti sprinkle packs, and they contained more than enough decals to fill the entire DIY sprinkle backdrop. They were also super easy to put on. Just peel, and stick on the board. Easy Peasy!

September 2018 Monthly Favorites

09.29.18

It’s been some time since my last monthly favorites post and I know these type of posts are some of your guy’s favorite! Well, I’m back with my favorites from the past month and I thought I’d try something a little different to talk about all my fave products.

September 2018 Montly Favorites - monthly favorites

  1. The most perfect desk for your laptop. It’s fold-able, white and makes it easy to work on your laptop in bed or while watching TV.
  2. I’ve always wanted a Jo Malone candle, so I bought myself a beautiful one from Sephora with a gift card I won and it smells absolutely divine! I just leave it open on my dresser, and without even having to light it, it smells amazing!
  3. Gursheel bought me a Daniel Wellington watch when we got engaged over three years ago, and I still wear it every single day. It came with two straps and I just recently changed the strap and it’s like I have a completely new watch. It’s simple, beautiful and timeless and serves me well every day at work. And the battery hasn’t died!
  4. Now that Autumn has officially begun, the air has been quite dry. So, I bought myself some Shea Butter from L’Occitane and it is so great! I’ve been blowing my nose a lot and the skin around my nose has gotten dry and flaky. I apply a little of this Shea Butter and it instantly heals the skin and makes it super soft. An amazing product by one of my favorite skin care brands.
  5. I received my very first S’well water bottle for my birthday a couple of years ago and I loved it. It served me well on our trip to Portugal and Spain and just always kept my water cold. Well, I thought it was time for another one, so I bought this Moonstone Traveler bottle in the 20 oz size. It is so beautiful and also a lot easier to clean than the original bottle style.
  6. My new gold french press is seriously hands down my favorite of this month, perhaps even of this year. I bought it a few weeks ago and ever since I have been making iced coffees and lattes at home. Even Gursheel loves the iced coffees I make at home and takes one to work every day. I’m thinking to share my favorite recipes I’ve tried for iced coffees and lattes. Look out for that in the coming weeks.
  7. Finally, I bought myself a MacBook this past month and to go with it, I found this super useful, beautiful and affordable case from Amazon. Gursheel even has an Ipad case of the same style.

That’s it for my monthly favorites for September 2018. Let me know if you like this new style for the monthly favorites!
