The Things You Need To Do To Be Better With Money

03.06.19

Hi friends, today I have a contributed post by Ryan Keys all about how to be better with money. Hope you enjoy 🙂

Do you often feel like everyone else has their ducks in a row when it comes to money, but you’re left struggling to make it from one paycheck to the next? You might feel alone, but rest assured you’re not.

However, there comes a time when you need to take control of your finances and start making better choices. Let the following advice help you make some better spending decisions to help you be better with money.

Look at where you’re overspending

Do you know where your money goes each month? Laying it all out in front of you can be a big eye-opener. Highlighting the areas where you spend the most can help you make some changes to your habits. So where should you start?

If your cell phone bill is obscene, bring it down with Text Now. If you spend a lot at Starbucks each week, start bringing coffee from home. It’s these attitude adjustments that will help stop you from overspending when there are more affordable solutions available.

Budgeting is easier than you think

Everyone dreads the word budget, but all it really means is tracking your spending and not just having to guess whenever you look at your balance. A budgeting app can be a good place to get you started, helping you input your outgoing and make better spending decisions about your disposable income.

When you focus on what your end goal should be such as savings, a vacation or getting out of debt, it’ll make the idea of cutting back and budgeting much easier to swallow.

Always ask yourself ‘Do I need this?’

Want versus need is a shopaholic’s biggest problem. If you tend to spend a lot of money on things you want instead of the things you need, then you need to really think about changing your ways.

Try taking only the cash you need when you go out and turn off notifications for store apps on your phone. It’s also worth setting yourself a treats budget in your monthly budget so that you’re not completely depriving yourself, giving you a limit to stick to instead of just spending as you please.

Unleash your inner bargain hunter

There’s definitely something satisfying that comes with finding a bargain. Almost a vindication against retailers! Once you get into the thrill of bargain-hunting, it can be difficult to stop. There are some great websites out there to help you find deals online that can really bring down your spending to help your money stretch further.

Becoming better with your finances is important for growing up and living a more responsible life. Take a long, hard look at your money and ask yourself if you’re happy with how things are currently going. The vow to make some attitude adjustments. Everyone is capable of improving their financial situation, you just need to make the decision to let go of your past behavior and start afresh.

Hi friends, today I have a contributed post by Ryan Keys all about the how to make home improvement cheaper. Hope you enjoy 🙂

The idea of working to improve your own home isn’t exactly a new one. In fact, in the past, most people would go down this route, rather than paying someone else to handle it for them. Making the whole thing a lot cheaper, DIY can be a great idea for a lot of the jobs around your home, and isn’t something you should be too shy to try. Of course, though, along with being willing to handle this work for yourself, you also have to know when to give some of it to other people. To help you out with this, this post will be exploring three custom services which can make DIY all the cheaper.

Printing

It’s no secret that paintings are expensive items, with some being worth more than the buildings which they are kept inside. This doesn’t stop with the originals, though, as even prints are often pricey, making it hard to afford the styles you’d like for your space. Thankfully, there are companies out there which will let you make your own quality art prints. You will have to start with your own image, but this is will make the whole thing far more affordable, as this will ensure that you’re not having to pay the licensing fees which would usually come with something like this.

Cutting

Over the last few decades, the world of furniture has changed a lot. Instead of buying items which have been handcrafted in a batch of one, most people are using companies like Ikea to find flat packs which they can build at home. When you’re already going through the effort of building to save money, though, it can make sense to look at designing your own furniture to get a similar effect. There are loads of companies out there which offer cutting services. Metals, plastics, and wood can all be handled like this, and this is often far cheaper than buying something which has already been designed for you.

Designing

There are some parts of your home which you won’t be able to DIY completely, simply because the work is too complex. Kitchens are a great example of this, with people often relying on a builder to help them to put together their space. There are several companies out there which take a different approach to this, though. Sourcing the materials, designers, and builders themselves, they can offer the design and build as a full package, making it far cheaper than going through two or three different businesses in the process.

With all of this in mind, you should be feeling ready to take on the challenge of finding custom services which will make your home improvements cheaper. A lot of people neglect this sort of option when they are exploring the idea of making their home better. As time goes on, though, the world of interior design is only becoming more complex, and this is opening the doors to new options which most people won’t hear about for a long time.

Strawberry Jam Recipe – Mini Jam Jars

03.02.19

I love strawberry jam! In fact, I love to buy some fancy looking jam from Home Sense every so often and indulge in a PB+J sandwich from time to time. But since Gursheel and I love making things from scratch, I started researching strawberry jam recipes. I read recipes using pectins, recipes using butter and recipes for all types of fruit. So, upon researching, I decided on a recipe and tested it out and it worked beautifully on my first attempt. So, I decided to make mini jam jars and write up a blog post with this strawberry jam recipe to share with you all. I am no longer going to purchase jam from the stores since I know how easy and affordable it is to make it yourself at home!

Ingredients – Strawberry Jam Recipe

2 packs of strawberries

2 cups of sugar

1/2 lemon

1 tbsp vegan butter

mini jars

Directions – Strawberry Jam Recipe

First, wash and dry all the strawberries. Then start removing the stems. Since we are using 2 packs of strawberries for this recipe, this step is the longest.

Now, if you prefer chunkier jam, then cut up larger chunks of the strawberries, but if you prefer not so chunky jam (like me), cut the strawberry up in small pieces.

Next, add in the 2 cups of sugar. Yes, I know it is a lot, but it is what makes the jam taste sweet. Also, you’re only using less than a tablespoon of jam on your piece of bread and eating it fairly infrequently. Mix in the sugar with the strawberries, cover and let sit for at least 2 hours. You will notice after the 2 hour mark that most of the sugar is already dissolved. By doing this, you will save on some of the cooking time as this helps the strawberries break down a bit.

Now put the sugary strawberries into a pot and bring to a boil. Once they start to boil, add in the vegan butter and the juice of half a lemon. Continue to boil the strawberries for at least 25 minutes. I found this the right time for everything to come together and look like jam.

Let the strawberry jam cool to room temperature before putting into your glass jars. We had these cute mini glass jars that I thought would make cute little gifts as well. All I did was boil some water, and poured it into the jars to sterilize.

I then poured out the water and poured in the strawberry jam into each of the mini jars. I locked the jars tight and placed them into my fridge. An open jar of jam should last a few months, and the unopened ones will definitely last a lot longer!

I’ve used this strawberry jam recipe to make strawberry jam a couple of times now and used the jam on bread as well as energy balls. It tastes just like those specialty jams I like to buy, except, I made it and it was so affordable and quick to make myself! And if you use these cute mini jars like I did, just add a bit of cute washi tape and glue on some pretty fabric on the lid, and you got yourself the perfect little gift for anyone in your life! Or even for a bridal shower! (check out these posts for great bridal shower favors). Chocolate bars and DIY Sprinkle Favours!
