Homemade Chocolate Bars – Donut and Sprinkle Themed

06.09.18

Last week I shared with you all these amazing sprinkle favours I made for my sisters bridal shower. And I’m back today with another bridal shower favour idea that is perfect for any themed shower. My sister’s bridal shower theme was donuts, because that girl LOVES donuts! Well these homemade chocolate bars are so cool and so perfect!

I am a huge fan of the Compartes brand: they have the coolest chocolate bars, but the packaging of the chocolates just takes it to a whole other level. I was inspired by the Compartes chocolate bars to make one for my sisters shower. To fit the theme, I made chocolate bars with sprinkles in them and found a really cool donut wallpaper that I used to wrap the chocolates in! They’re just so cool and they taste delicious! Even better: they’re so fun and easy to make! So let’s get to it!

INGREDIENTS

dark or milk chocolate wafersĀ (I got mine from Bulk Barn)

an assortment of sprinkles

chocolate bar mold

aluminum foil – try these gold ones for a even cooler look

printer

donut wallpaper – downloadable here

tape

DIRECTIONS – Homemade chocolate bars

Begin by adding a handful of chocolates into a microwavable bowl. Place into the microwave and let the chocolate melt. You want to make sure you don’t burn the chocolate. In my experience, 20 seconds is a good time, mixing the chocolate every 10 seconds.

Once the chocolate has melted, pour the chocolate into the chocolate bar mold. Next, add sprinkles to make some sprinkled chocolate bars. You can even add sprinkles to the bottom of the mold and then pour the chocolate, to get even more sprinkles!

Place the mold with the chocolate into the freezer. It takes literally less than a minute for the chocolate to solidify.

Next, lay out a sheet of aluminum foil and place the chocolate bar on top. This chocolate bar mold is great, because the chocolate comes out so easily!

Wrap the aluminum foil around the chocolate and seal the back with some tape.

Next, print out the donut wallpaper – the free downloadable wallpaper is linked above. Print the wallpaper on a regular 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper.

Now, cut the donut wallpaper so that it wraps around the chocolate bar, with a little bit of the aluminum showing on either end. This creates a nice look. I trimmed off 2 inches lengthwise to get this look for my chocolate bar mold. Seal the back with some tape and you’re done making these homemade chocolate bars!

After the bridal shower, I had people asking me what chocolate I used since it was quite delicious. I used a combination of milk and dark chocolate wafers from Bulk Barn and they were amazing!

DIY Sprinkle Favours for Bridal Shower

06.03.18

Hi friends! It’s been a while since I’ve been here on the blog, but I was busy spending time with my family in BC. My little sister got married last week and I had the most amazing time at her wedding! But now I’m back in hot Toronto and I have lots of amazing posts coming up! Starting with todays DIY Sprinkle Favours that I made for my sisters Donut themed bridal shower! These DIY sprinkle favours are super easy to make and are perfect for any bridal shower, be it donut themed or not!

This DIY is probably the easiest one you will ever do. The hardest part is mixing the sprinkles together and putting them in the jar. But the outcome is so beautiful and so worth it. You can easily purchase jars of sprinkles at the stores, however, a custom one will be hard to find. These DIY Sprinkle favours are much more affordable and give the bridal shower gift the perfect touch of custom to make it extra special.

I’ve included a digital download in this blog post that you can use to print out your own labels for your jars! This way you can just print at home and put them on to the sprinkle jars.

SUPPLIES

50 mL cork stopper glass bottle vials

mini funnel

different types of sprinkles

home printer

dye cutter or scissors

circle dye (if using dye cutter)

glue

twine

labels (sprinkled with love label)

DIRECTIONS – DIY Sprinkle Favours

Add your sprinkles into a bowl and mix well. Using a funnel, add the sprinkles into the glass vials. If you don’t have a mini funnel, you can also roll up a piece of paper and use it to funnel the sprinkles into the vials. I used a combination of coloured sprinkles, with some ice cream cone shaped ones. Bulk Barn has a huge selection of sprinkles and the possibilities of sprinkle combinations is endless!

Cap the vial and add a piece of twine around the top.

Print out the labels that say Sprinkled with love on a piece of good quality white paper.

If you have a dye cutter, use a circle dye to cut out perfect circles and use some glue to attach them onto the jars. However, if you don’t, you can just use a pair of scissors to cut out circles and attach them with glue onto the jars.

And there you have it! Beautiful DIY Sprinkle Favours are ready for your upcoming bridal shower!

April 2018 Monthly Favorites – Adidas Leggings Love

05.05.18

It’s been a while since I’ve done a favourites post, and some of you actually really like these. So, I’m back with what I have been loving for the month of April 2018. Out of all the things I’m mentioning below, the Adidas leggings are my absolute favourite! I have been living out of these Adidas leggings for the past month!

FOOD

1. Santa Cruz Raspberry Lemonade

This is my all-time favourite lemonade! It’s so delicious and made with all natural and organic ingredients. I have tried a few of their lemonade flavours, but the raspberry one is my personal favourite, although it can be difficult to find. Usually Whole Foods carries it in the Spring/Summer time and they tend to also go on sale in the summer! I love using it for picnics or outdoor BBQ’s and mixing it in with some Sprite for a more carbonated taste.

2. Love Crunch Granola

My sister introduced me to this and we love it! You can find it at Costco for a much affordable price than at the regular grocery store. Although it is granola, we like to eat it like cereal. I think my sister eats it for dessert as a treat since it is quite the indulgence.

3. Vegan Mediterranean Salad with Quinoa Salad Dressing

This quinoa salad recipe I shared with you all on the blog last week is seriously the best ever! I’ve made it a few times now and every time I am so impressed with my food editor. It’s healthy, delicious and quick to make! If you haven’t already, make sure to check out the recipe here!

BOOK

1. The Alchemist

A friend at work recommended this book to me and I literally read it in 2 days! The Alchemist is a classic book celebrating it’s 25th year this year. It’s a book about this boy with a dream and as you read it you get inspired to go after your own. It has an amazing storyline and plot and teaches some lessons along the way. Another friend from work who is from Brazil said they used to read books by Paulo Coelho at school. I definitely will be reading more books by this author.

2. The Count of Monte Cristo

I have been sharing books I’ve read each month on Instagram. And, a few of you have messaged asking what books I read in March/April. Well, the Count of Monte Cristo is the only book I’ve read in the last 2 months! Along with the Alchemist and another gardening book. Although they only took a few days to read. The Count of Monte Cristo is ginormous! I read it in high school and I remember loving it, but now as an adult, I love it even more. It’s a book about revenge and love and there is so much storyline that you are absorbed into the book the entire time. Just be aware it will definitely take a while to read. But it’s a classic and everyone should read it.

SKIN/BODY CARE

1. Post Poo Drops

I didn’t know what category to include this in, but I chose this section since it is kept in our bathroom. Okay, so you may ask why are Post Poo Drops included in your favourites? Well, honestly because they smell amazing and the packaging of the bottle is the best! I’ve had these for a long time now and even brought them with me to Toronto when I moved because they are just so cool! Basically, after you’ve had a poo and someone is coming into the bathroom after you, just drop a couple drops of these into the toilet and you’re bathroom will smell like oranges. So, the person after you will have no idea! Apart from the smell, the label on the bottle is hilarious! Definitely, a show stopper in the bathroom!

FASHION

1. Adidas Leggings

A friend had sent me an Aritzia gift card for my birthday and I needed to buy something. So, off to Aritzia I went. I wanted to get something that was similar in price to the gift card value so after a bit of searching, I found these Adidas leggings. And holy moly am I happy with them! I wear leggings pretty regularly and almost all of them are solid black. Well, these Adidas leggings are black but they have bit more interest, the stripes. So now, when I wear leggings, it feels like I’m wearing a completely different outfit. Although, I am still wearing black leggings! Yay for fashion! Yay for Adidas leggings! šŸ˜›

2. Apron

Okay, so why is an apron included in my fashion favourite. Well, honestly because I feel pretty fashionable when I wear it! HAHA! Gursheel bought this apron for me from Anthropologie and I love it. It’s so pretty and it has pockets! A pretty useful apron in my opinion. And it makes for the perfect prop when taking some food pictures for the blog!

BLOG

1. 50mm Sony lens

I realize I should probably start sharing some of my blog related favourites since I love blogging and it takes up most of my free time. A couple of weeks ago Gursheel bought a 50mm lens for his camera and it is the perfect lens for a blog like mine. It is a great lens for taking up close pictures of food, DIY projects as well as flat lays. I think Gursheel enjoys taking pictures even more for me with this lens. And I’ve definitely noticed a difference in the quality of the pictures as well!
